REUSE Circular Stories: Axel Hendriks, a deconstruction perspective
Axel Hendriks is one of the owners of Adex Groep, a circular deconstruction and demolition company. As commercial director, he is responsible for all aspects related to circularity and the high-value reuse of materials originating from Adex Groep’s projects. Over the past years, Adex Groep has transformed from a traditional demolition company into a deconstruction company that remanufactures and supplies building materials. In this video, Axel explains that circularity is not a fixed end goal but an ongoing process that requires continuous learning and adaptation. Reflecting on work with existing buildings, he emphasizes the importance of understanding what is already there and responding carefully to its constraints and qualities. Rather than striving for perfection, he advocates making realistic, thoughtful choices that incrementally improve the circular performance of buildings.

Ir. Kim Sinnige has been working for the Circular Impulse Initiative within the CBE Hub since 2022. She graduated cum laude from the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft in 2023. Her master thesis explored the embedding of circular values into a Waste-to-Energy plant through storytelling, Material Flow Analysis and design. She completed her bachelor with honors at the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Eindhoven in 2018. Between her degrees, she has worked in architecture offices in Utrecht and Arctic Norway.
