Practitioners Interview Series
Practitioners Interview Series | Nina Aalbers
Nina Aalbers founded Architectuur MAKEN with her partner Ferry in ’t Veld, with the idea that we need to move to a completely different way of building – biobased, circular, nature-inclusive, climate-adaptive and energy-positive – so that the built environment ultimately no longer emits any CO2 at all. Studio Architectuur Maken works towards this and takes a step towards increasingly sustainable architecture in every project. The agency is working towards a future in which circular construction is self-evident, with attention to the beauty of sustainability and the sustainability of beauty. Bricks from construction waste, all-wood residential buildings, collective gardens and housing for non-human animals as part of the architecture; Architectuur Maken tries to incorporate evocative fragments of the most nature-inclusive, climate-adaptive and social architecture in every project.
